I need a question answered. I am so hungry & I study and I read & I communicate to My Savior. I feel that yes I haven’t been in my walk as long as most members in my church. But I realize that sometimes the corporate side of church makes people move man approval motivation & not God’s word! My issues deal with the voice of confusion that has been trying to discount things that I know I’ve read in the bible. First let me say I hear my Fathers voice! I know when I’m convincing myself to do something out of free will. I know (discern) when the enemy tries to tempt me! A young lady in the church told our Pastor that God told her to fast from TV. Our Pastor said that is NOT a fast. He said maybe she didn’t know who talked to her but If it isn’t in the scripture it wasn’t God. That very moment I knew better because I know God has told me similarly! Also Pastor said we aren’t to fast for ourselves but others. I understand that Daniel, Esther…I mean I could go on & on but my point is that I’m aware its in the old testament BUT how am I suppose to discount all that God did in the OT? I wanted to walk out of church but I pressed forward & stayed but was very uncomfortable. Another lady asked is a person needed to take their medicine with food would that still be considered a fast. Pastor said NOPE its a sacrifice but NOT a fast. I’m sure I read that Daniel gave up meat, wine, & something else but he ate vegetables for 3 days. It was a fast! I don’t want to be a lost sheep BUT something just isn’t right! Please give me some spiritual guidance on the best way to handle this! God is NOT the author of confusion but a slew of other ministers set in bible study & said NOTHING! I prayed so much last night about this & today I needed a word from you! Help me please!
