About

Just a small town guy...living a life dedicated to Christ.

Me

I’m from the coastal town of Brunswick, Georgia. A small town guy with a big city vision. A vision that wants to impact the city for Jesus. I am a graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where I was a political science pre-law major. I am very proud to have graduated from an institution that has produced men who have changed the world. After undergrad, I attended Howard University School of Law.

I used to work in the court system. Every day I would see young men, not much younger than me, sitting in courtrooms. They were hopeless. It looked as if their lives were over. I made a decision then to make sure I served a source of encouragement for these same young men. I went from prosecuting them to sharing words of hope. I am licensed attorney and currently a member of the Michigan and Georgia Bar Associations. But I am more proud of the fact that I am a member of the Kingdom of God and that I live a life that glorifies God. I am currently finishing a Master’s Degree at Fuller Theological Seminary. The words I live by every day: “Your lifestyle is the most effective sermon that you’ll ever preach.”

This Site

Brother Preacher John? I got the name from a friend who felt it was fit me well. Although I was involved in ministry, the friend also felt that he was a brother. She felt like she could talk to me about issues in life without the feeling that “Reverend” John would preach to her or look at her with a smug, pious look.

I was a brother first. A brother who had his own issues in life. A brother who was real about what was going on with him. A brother who was transparent enough to admit that he felt pain. A brother who was transparent enough to admit that he had questions that needed to be answered. So this website is space dedicated to discuss the things I encounter in life. A life that entails many issues of faith, the practice of law, hardships, trails, triumphs, and joys. And in discussing those issues, I hope to encourage others who deal with the same things every day. So pull up a chair, have a seat, kick back, and enjoy the dialogue.
