Stayin’ Saved…

You ever had to “stay saved?” People will try your patience.  They will get on your last nerve. They don’t care. One of my favorite songs is called “Stay Saved.” It talks about a couple of the things people do to test your faith and maintaining a Christ-like disposition in the midst of the test. You ever felt that way? Somebody might say something that rubs you the wrong way or this person might do something that doesn’t quite sit well with you. Even in my own “sheltered” seminary environment people say stuff that just doesn’t sit too well with me. Sometimes I have to tell myself, “Stay saved John, stay saved…” Of course, I’m not saying that I would lose my salvation by bringing myself down to someone else’s level and becoming confrontational. Rather, I’m saying it takes too much time and energy to be confrontational and combative. It’s draining and in the end does more harm than good. So I’m grateful for the ability to “stay saved” in those kind of situations.  Because Lord knows I want Him to close His eyes until I’m finished “putting somebody in their place.”  News flash: Folks will test you! Your reaction to those tests is what sets you apart and speaks volumes of your character.

“The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, and his glory is to overlook a transgression.”-Proverbs 19:11

Stayin‘ Saved,

Brother John

I agree. Our walk can be difficult at times, remember people will try to were down your patience but God knows how much you can take and usually he gives you an escape when you’ve had enough. Isn’t it wonderful that when we do sin we simply need to repent and God forgives us and remembers them no more. Jesus Christ paid for our past, present and future sins so that we don’t have to be in condemnation at anytime. What frees me up is Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” Sin dwell in all of us a constant warfare going on in our mind but positionally we are children of God and joint heirs with Christ. “Therefore, my beloved brethren,be ye stedfest, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord”. 1 Cor 15:58
